Letterpress

letterpress

I got involved with one of the Letterpress Workshops to try this traditional method of type printing for the first time.

Our brief was to pick a simple phrase that involves numbers.
We decided to choose ’1 in the front, 2 in the back’; a line from a Deekline & Wizard track.

The phrase lent itself to some nice ways of playing with size and perspective, with the foreground ’1 in the front’ being larger and overlayed onto the smaller ’2 in the back’.

We used a Gill Sans typeface and printed it on A2 tracing paper.

Here is the final piece; nothing too fancy or complex, just an outcome of learning the Letterpress print process.

Rich.
