The Wire: Sleeves Received
The Wire: Sleeves Received
In my first post as Music Editor for SickManSick I thought I would introduce you to one of my favourite music blogs. In doing so, I am trying to bring together the obvious design focus of SickManSick with the music content that I will be bringing to the site.
The Wire magazine is a fantastic source of high quality alternative music journalism. The team also runs a Tumblog called Sleeves Received which focusses on beautiful packaging for (often) equally beautiful music.
Félicia Atkinson’s new release The Owls is truly wonderful. It comes in a lined wooden box as a limited edition of fifty tapes. I’m a sucker for this sort of thing, so snapped it up immediately. So much care has gone into the packaging design, it is a piece of art in itself. And then there’s the music: ineffable, luscious ambient soundscapes that you can get lost in.
The best bit? Félicia has released The Owls as a free download on her Bandcamp for everyone to enjoy.
